“Many Rivers to Cross” is a reggae cover by British band UB40, featured on their 1983 album “Labour of Love”. The album is a tribute to classic reggae tracks, and includes major hits like “Red Red Wine”, “Cherry Oh Baby”, and “Please Don’t Make Me Cry.” The song was originally written and recorded by Jimmy Cliff in 1969 for his album “Jimmy Cliff”. It reflects themes of struggle, perseverance, and searching for direction in life. Though UB40’s version wasn’t released as a major single, “Labour of Love” reached #1 on the UK Albums Chart. This live performance was recorded for the World Liberty Concert, a large-scale event held on May 8, 1995, in Arnhem to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Europe. The concert took place at the John Frost Bridge.
