Chromeo killed it this year. Of course we've been fucking with them since back in the "Needy Girl" days (which is still the jam, by the way), but this year Dave 1 and P-Thugg took it to the next level, looping the world, playing sold out show after sold out show. Two decades after the pair first met back in high school in Montreal, a couple of crate digging P-Funk nerds, and they've finally produced a record that perfectly balances their wry humor, pop hooks, and svelte musicianship. They're more than aware—it's a tightrope that's tough to walk. White Women was also the first record where the duo allowed outsiders in the mix, not only in terms of guest vocalists—Toro Y Moi, Ezra Koenig, and a flawless outing by Solange—but also when it came to songwriting and production duties (they collaborated with Fool's Gold duo Oliver).

From the early sessions in Brooklyn back in 2012, to arguing about vocal takes late into the night, to recording stints in LA and a triumphant (adoptive) hometown performance at Terminal 5 in New York City, the above video is a document of this process: the Making of White Women.
