Here's what we've always appreciated about Kate Nash: there's nothing pat, or rehearsed, or calculated about the 25-year-old, London-based singer. In both her songs and in person, she's upfront and unflinching—whether dissecting a disintegrating relationship, as in her 2008 breakthrough single, "Foundations," or more recently, when recounting the push, pull, and sting of female friendships in "Sister."
She's just as likely to write and record and shoot a video in 24 hours (the gritty, garage rock squall of "Under-Estimate The Girl"), as she is to sing candied harmonies and flounce about in a 50s swimsuit with synchronized swimmers (her latest video "OMYGOD").
When Kate played Brooklyn recently, we took the opportunity to check out her live show and talk to her about her music, hair, and style evolution, from when she first hit the public eye as a teenager to now, six years later. She also spoke candidly about the loss of a close friend and her relationship with her fans.
