Dutch maestro Rex Mundi is back under the Coldharbour Recordings spotlight once again, as he presents the latest three-track bundle curtailed within his Opaque E.P.
When the details of Markus Schulz's Los Angeles '12 compilation were revealed, no one was
surprised to see Rex's name up in lights, having significantly contributed to the city series projects since Amsterdam '08. Occupying slots on disc 2 were two tracks built to rock the dancefloors, and on the evidence presented so far, they are fulfilling their intentions.
Leading track Opaque lends itself towards comparisons with previous Mundi stalwart interstate of Lightning, with a continual driving and uplifting feel that works well in both radio and live environments. Rex tries his hand at the modern day party sound with Shocking Blue, and what may appear to be a surprise to many, it is one that will hook you in after several listens. The Black Hole is a much darker and broodier affair, yet to be discovered by many but will gather momentum in due course.
With the three tracks on offer, Rex demonstrates that his diverse production skills come to the fore once again. Opaque and Shocking Blue will likely dominate the playlists in the coming months, and with The Black Hole ready to pounce on top.
