He’s one of the most recognizable characters in the world of Star Wars and he doesn’t have Force powers or even that many lines. Regardless, we all got the toys and wanted to dress up as him for Halloween, because the mysterious fan of disintegration Boba Fett was so cool. He had a sweet helmet, a flamethrower on his wrist as well as a grappling gun, and the one promise of the future, a jet pack. Of course the jet pack ended up being his undoing in what used to be the most controversial part of Boba Fett’s story, that such a cool looking character could be done in by what amounts to a slapstick routine. Well, move over Boba Fett’s death, there’s a new controversy for the coolest action figure you ever owned. Now the character who introduced us to the order of elite soldiers and mercenaries in the Star Wars Galaxy known as the Mandalorians might not have ever been a Mandalorian in the first place. What started as a seed of doubt in the Clone Wars animated series and an interview with the show runner who suggested that his was George Lucas’ vision all along, to new developments to the canon have meant that the bounty hunter that went from the man who captured a bounty twofer by catching both Luke Skywalker and Han Solo for two different rewards and then went on to become Mandalore, the leader of the Mandalorians has instead become the son of someone who just happens to have a set of Mandalorian armor. But does that mean he’s not really a Mandalorian? Not so fast.
