While we can’t wait to see the third How to Train Your Dragon movie, we’re also sad to be seeing this incredible franchise come to an end. The movies have told us the story of Hiccup, who grew up in the shadow of his Viking chief father, Stoick the Vast.

The two had a somewhat complicated relationship and Stoick passed away saving Hiccup in the second movie, but we’ve heard that voice actor Gerard Butler will be reprising his role in the third movie and we’ve also seen Stoick in the trailer, so what’s going on here? Could Stoick be returning from the dead or could his appearance have a different meaning entirely? We’ll tell you what we think about the future of Hiccup, Toothless and Stoick.
