News broke recently that The Young and the Restless actress Sasha Calle has landed the role of the DCEU’s Supergirl for the upcoming Flash movie. This is incredibly exciting news. Supergirl is a character who’s only grown in popularity in recent years thanks to things like the CW’s TV show starring Melissa Benoist, and fans have been clamoring to see her show up in the DCEU sooner rather than later. Well, our wish has been granted! Supergirl is officially here now, but because she’s showing up in the Flash solo movie, which promises to be a loose adaptation of the classic Flashpoint comic, what does this exactly mean for the Supergirl character?
Well, one option is that Supergirl will be the live-action equivalent of Subject One from the Flashpoint comic. There, Kal-El’s pod doesn’t crash into a field in Kansas, but rather right in the middle of Metropolis, leading to the government capturing Kal-El and treating him as an experiment named Subject One for his whole life. Maybe with the news of Supergirl in this movie, she will be the one we see, having a backstory of arriving on Earth instead of Kal and being taken by the government. What type of mindset does this put her in? Would she still want to help people after she breaks free or will she turn her back on humanity? Those questions will be answered today!
