Take That are one of the most successful British pop groups of all time. Formed in Manchester in 1990, the original line-up consisted of Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Howard Donald, Jason Orange, and Robbie Williams. The band became central figures in the 1990s boy-band explosion, scoring huge international hits and selling more than 45 million records worldwide. Their breakthrough came with songs like “Pray”, “Relight My Fire” (original from Dan Hartman) and “Everything Changes”. However global superstardom followed with the ballad “Back for Good” (1995). The single reached No. 1 in the UK, No. 1 in Germany and Australia, and No. 7 on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming their biggest worldwide hit. The group split in 1996 at the height of their fame. Robbie Williams launched a hugely successful solo career with hits like “Angels” and “Rock DJ.” Gary Barlow became a successful songwriter and producer, later enjoying solo success and serving as a TV talent show judge. Mark Owen and Howard Donald continued releasing solo and DJ projects. Jason Orange pursued a private life outside the music industry. Take That reunited in 2005 (without Williams initially) and enjoyed renewed chart success, later briefly reforming as a five-piece before continuing as a trio. In 2026 they are touring with the Circus Live stadium tour in the summer. This recording is from Dutch program TROS TV Show and broadcasted on April 5, 1996.

TopPop was the first regular dedicated pop music TV show in the Dutch language area. Dutch broadcaster AVRO aired the programme weekly, from 1970 to 1988. Presenter Ad Visser hosted the show for its first fifteen years.
