This is one of the rarest and most expensive cars Mat has ever reviewed!
He’s flown over to Italy to visit Pagani, and he’s been allowed to get up close and personal with the new Pagani Codalunga Speedster!
It’s ultra-rare, with only 10 to ever be sold! The question is, how does it differ from the Codalunga Coupe? And is it worth the €11,000,000 price tag?! Let’s take a closer look…
Although the shape is still largely similar to the coupe, there are a few unique differences. Up top, there’s now a blade through the large air intake in the bumper, along with larger vents in the bonnet to help cool the radiator. Along the side, the gull-wing doors have been replaced with regular doors, which therefore means the wings in front and behind the doors are all-new. The huge air intake scoops behind the cabin are also more prominent. Around the back, there are loads of active aero components and ceramic-coated exhaust tips. What's more, unlike the Coupe edition, the speedster comes with six (although two are hidden lower down). Also, a special mention to this green paint - it looks absolutely magnificent!
The interior of the Codlinga Speedster is the definition of refinement. The only materials you’ll find in here are metal, leather, wood, fabric or carbon - there isn’t one single piece of plastic! What’s more, the fabric on the doors and seats is so rare and expensive that it costs more than a regular family car! All buttons and switches just feel expensive when you touch them, and there’s a surprising amount of storage available. There is also bespoke luggage available, which, once again, is coated in the expensive fabric. There’s also one rare button which we haven’t seen on a car before - a fire extinguisher switch!
The Codalunga Speedster uses the same engine as found in the Pagani Utopia. That means it’s powered by a 6-litre twin-turbo V12 that delivers 864hp and 1,10Nm. All this power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed manual gearbox.
So the question is - if you could, would you pay the eye-watering, pre-tax price of €11,000,000?! Stick with Mat to see if you should!
