West: Goalies on top in hard-fought Western battles. March 3 round-up
Goals were in short supply in the Western Conference on day two of the playoffs. Two games yielded just two tallies, one from Lokomotiv’s Maxim Osipov to see off Jokerit in regulation. In Moscow, the derby clash between CSKA and Spartak was goalless through 60 minutes and the decisive blow came midway through the first period of overtime when Maxim Shalunov gave the Army Men the win.

East: Traktor surprises Ufa, Ak Bars wins in overtime. March 3 round-up
Day two of the Eastern playoffs began with Traktor upsetting the seeding to win 3-1 at Salavat Yulaev. Then Torpedo came close to pulling off an even bigger shock, taking #1 seed Ak Bars to overtime before falling to a power play goal.
