This Clutch Only Lasts 4 Seconds

Everything about top fuel cars is extreme – they run at 11,000 horsepower, enough to trash their entire engine in under four seconds. Pistons, rings, connecting rods, and spark plugs all have to be tossed after a single run. It's no surprise, then, that top fuel clutches are a marvel of modern engineering. But, even the most heavily-engineered parts can fail – top fuel clutches can reach an absolutely INSANE 4,000° F, which is hot enough that they can weld themselves together.
