The XUV 7XO’s “DaVinci dampers” are a game changer.
They’re essentially dampers with a DCx piston valve, using thin metal discs to alter hydraulic fluid flow based on applied pressure. In principle, they do the same job as the XUV700’s FSDs, but with a wider bandwidth that allows more precise tuning of primary and secondary ride. It’s complicated, but all you really need to know is that it works as advertised. Despite the wheel size going up an inch, low-speed ride comfort improves, with a newfound plushness in how it soaks up rough patches. Hydraulic bump stops also take the edge off that thud when the suspension bottoms or tops out.
High-speed manners are just as impressive. The dampers keep the body flat and composed over long, wavy undulations common on our highways. Corners can be taken with confidence, and even mid-corner bumps and dips are dispatched in a fluid, one-and-done motion.
