Harley-Davidson Sportster S Recall (2021–2026) | Triple Clamp Issue Explained

Harley-Davidson has issued a second recall affecting the Sportster S, and this one involves a critical structural component: the upper triple clamp.

The recall impacts 8,498 motorcycles from model years 2021–2026, along with 1,002 recall repair kits currently in dealer inventory. The issue stems from potential cracking in the upper triple clamp, a problem that was already addressed in a previous recall—but may not have been fully resolved.

According to Harley-Davidson, some recall kits may have accidentally shipped with the original faulty clamp, while others may contain corrected parts that still show casting anomalies. The components were supplied by Wanfeng Magnesium Technology, the Chinese manufacturer responsible for casting the parts.

The problem first surfaced in September 2024, when a Sportster S owner noticed a crack while washing the motorcycle. Harley-Davidson launched an investigation and issued the first recall in September 2025, covering more than 8,400 bikes. Now a second recall has been initiated after dealerships discovered incorrect parts included in recall kits.

So far, Harley-Davidson has reported:
- Six warranty claims
- One crash with minor injuries potentially related to the issue
- No additional incidents reported since the investigation

Dealers will inspect affected motorcycles and recall kits for the outdated triple clamp or casting defects and replace them with updated components if necessary.
