The 2016 Camaro is over 200 lbs lighter than previous Camaro, and it now sits 20 lbs under the Mustang GT at 3685 lbs. While the body-in-white’s mass was reduced by 133 pounds, the structural rigidity is up 28%. The entire car was analyzed for every gram that could be removed, with major weight savings coming from an aluminum instrument panel, aluminum front suspension links, and a 26 lb loss from the 5 link rear suspension. Under the hood is the 6.2L engine LT1 engine, first introduced in the new Corvette. Resting in the Camaro, it does include some unique components, such as the tri-Y exhaust manifolds. It’s rated at 455 HP and 455 lb-ft. There are four different driving modes, altering the throttle mapping, engine sound through the dual-mode exhaust, power steering calibration, stability systems, magnetic ride damping calibration, and even the ambient lighting if the vehicle is equipped.
MSRP as tested - $46,095.00
