What happens when you break the unwritten rules of EV driving? We took a dual-motor Ford Mustang Mach-E on a little road trip, with the aim of knocking as many miles off the car’s claimed range as possible. To use as much energy as we could, the air conditioning was set to full blast, the heated seats, steering wheel and windscreen were switched on and the car’s sporty Untamed driving mode was selected. We then tested the car through a mixture of town driving, motorways and b-roads, logging our predicted range along the way. We chose the Mustang Mach-E for this test as we wanted to discover if Ford’s sporty electric SUV is a compelling alternative to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Volkswagen ID.4.
