BMW wasn’t traditionally a name associated with MPVs, yet in 2022 the 2 Series Active Tourer is one of just a handful of people carriers remaining. Most have been culled to make way for fashionable SUVs, but should they have been? The new Active Tourer is certainly practical for a family car, seating five people in comfort and with a decent-sized boot. Being a BMW the engine line-up impresses, with mild-hybrid petrols, a diesel and two plug-in hybrids. The latter are pricey to buy, but offer an electric range of up to 55 miles, slashing running costs for business and private buyers thanks to CO2 emissions of just 15g/km. Should you forget about SUVs and take a look at the 2 Series Active Tourer instead? Rich puts it to the test.
