This is the most incredible Porsche 911 the world has ever seen… The Porsche 911 Dakar!
It’s based on the Carrera 4 GTS, but it’s been modded up to the eyeballs to make it suitable for taking off-road! But what exactly has changed over the standard car?
Well for starters, let’s take a look on the outside. Up front, you’ll find a redesigned bumper, a tow hitch and retro-styled alloys at both the front and back. The car has also been raised 60mm higher than standard and has the option to raise an additional 30mm if needed. There’s a carbon fibre spoiler around the back, extra cladding around the wheel arches and the same bonnet as taken from the GT3!
Despite being built for burly off-road work, the 911 Dakar is still unmistakably a Porsche on the inside, with the infotainment screen, centre console and dials mirroring the GTS. However, there are a couple of changes to distinguish it from the normal car, such as bespoke driving modes, super-durable floor mats, and bucket seats lifted from the GT3. Oh, and of course, you won’t miss the roll cage at the back!
The 911 Dakar is powered by the same engine as the Carrera 4 GTS, which means it’s equipped with a 3-litre twin-turbo flat-six which is good for 480hp and 570Nm of torque. The engine sends power to all four wheels, which is just as well given some of the surfaces the 911 Dakar is likely to encounter!
Interested? Of course, you are! There’s one thing to consider though… The price starts from £173,000!! So is it worth it? It’s time for Mat to put it through its paces and find out!
