EricTheCarGuy Turns 16 #happybirthday

The phrase, “it’s hard to believe it’s been….”, seems dumb to say here.

It’s really not hard to believe it’s been so long, for me anyway. I’m getting old! I don’t mind it. There is a certain privilege that comes with it. I think that privilege comes from having earned the grey hairs in my beard. Firstly, having raised 3 amazing children, well, almost 3, you know who you are ;).

In addition to the energy it takes to raise children, it takes a lot of energy to start your own business. It’s almost like having another child. But if you’ve done it, and if you were successful with it, you know that success didn’t come overnight. You know that your success was built on small successes along the way. Sometimes just paying a particular bill on time is a milestone. I’m here to say to all of you, on the 16th anniversary of my successful business with EricTheCarGuy, currently standing at 1.8M subscribers on YouTube, that it’s worth it. It’s worth the blood, sweat, and tears to strike out on your own and say f*#% this job, I can do better.

Then you come to realize, you can always do better, and that will never change. The point of all of this, these words that I’m choosing to share with you here are, if you’re a DIYer looking to save some money, so that you can get to work, so that you can afford to eat and pay your rent, or if you think you want to become an automotive technician, an EV technician, a shop owner, a custom fabricator, or whatever you want, just remember what I’ve been saying all this time, Stay Dirty.

I wish you all the best in your struggle for a better life. Know that it can pay off.

The first video I ever posted, I say I posted it on January 27, 2009. YouTube says I posted it February 3, 2009. Perhaps the January date is when I started the channel and I ended up posting this video on February 3, 2009 as they say. Either way, this is my first video and my birthday is January 27, 2009. ETCG’s birthday that is.
