It shouldn't come as a surprise that you can talk to a phone -- but it's not really the phone you're talking to, it's a person on the other end of the call. But you're really not talking to your phone.

Voice Command, an app for Windows Mobile, essentially let you talk to your Windows Mobile phone. It would recognize your speech and carry out your command. It would also read certain things to you in a very robotic voice. It was one of my favorite apps.

Android lets you talk to your phone, similar to Voice Command, but the functions are more separate, spread across some built-in tools as well as some downloadable tools.

In this video I'll introduce you to searching using your voice and the Google Search widget, an update to the built-in Search widget. A lot of you probably already know this, but many may not. So this video serves as a foundation from which we can launch into cooler, more powerful stuff.
