Show Cars vs. Race Cars

In my opinion, there's two directions you can go when you're building a car. You can build it for aesthetics and appearance, or you can build it for performance. Sure, you can do both, but it's very difficult to pull off doing both well. Show cars are SUPER clean, in pristine condition. While race cars are often beat up and rough around the edges. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and function can look good for sure, but it'll never be as clean as those top tier show cars. Show cars can't be race cars, but can race cars be show cars? Should they do both or stick to what they're best at? Which do you prefer?
