The Auto Industry Killed These Cars In 2025

Automakers discontinued a shocking number of cars in 2025, with familiar nameplates quietly disappearing. This year, we say goodbye to legends like the Subaru Legacy and the Jeep Wagoneer, commercial hits like the Kia Soul, and EV headliners like the BMW XM, the Polestar 2, and the Audi Q8 e-tron.

While the obvious reasoning is that these cars were bad or they didn't sell, the truth is far more complex than a single sentence can convey. Shifting corporate priorities, market changes, new legislation and regulations all contributed to an auto industry that's changing so fast that these cars simply couldn't keep up.

This is an Automotive In Memoriam for the cars that won’t make it to 2026. Some were beloved. Some were misunderstood. Some never stood a chance. Rust in peace.
