If you're on the hunt for a top-of-the-line Android smartphone in the latter half of 2013, you've got a solid set of options. For fans of lightweight, fully-featured pocket computers, the Galaxy S 4 from Samsung is probably a solid bet. For those who prize build quality and aesthetics more highly than expandability, the HTC One is a better fit. And for those who value a feature-loaded experience on one-of-a-kind (but not at all outlandish) hardware, we're quickly learning that the LG G2 serves that niche pretty well.
Our full review of the G2 will be up shortly to further examine its unique place in the market - but in the interim, we've got to address a pressing question. What if you, our hypothetical gadget shopper, aren't confining your flagship-smartphone search to Android devices? What if you're torn between the bustling ecosystem of Android and the sleek minimalism of Windows Phone? That's a dilemma that dumps you directly into retail-store indecision, waffling back and forth between matte polycarbonate and glossy plastic. Between 13MP and 41MP shooters. Between the most customizable software ever seen on mobile and its rigid, unchanging, but beautifully simplistic mirror-universe duplicate. Between the new, fresh, backside-volume-key-rocking LG G2 and the king of modern smartphone cameras, the Nokia Lumia 1020.
Don't go unguided into that fearful pit of indecision, friend. For we've cooked up a comparison video aimed at answering the questions that pop into your mind as you contemplate pitching your wad of sawbucks at one device or the other. From camera performance to battery capacity to voice quality, we cover everything we've been able to test during our time with both devices (just as we did between the G2 and the HTC One last week). Watch the video, absorb the knowledge it bestows upon you, and visit your olde towne phone shoppe better-armed to make a decision on which of these will be your pocket communicator for the next year or so. Then stay tuned for the full G2 review, coming quite soon indeed.
CORRECTION: The "Mirasol" technology referenced in the narration refers to LG's screen-mirroring "Miracast" technology.
