He has been a distinguished scientist, advisor to the cabinet, and a leader of people. Born on October15, 1931 at Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu, Dr. Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam specialized in Aeronautical Engineering at the Madras Institute of Technology. As Project Director, he successfully launched SLV-III, thereby helping India become a member of the Space Club. As Chairman of Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC) and an eminent scientist, he led a team of 500 scientists to arrive at ΓÇ£Technology Vision 2020ΓÇ¥ ΓÇô a unique long-term technology vision for transforming India from a developing nation to a developed nation.
