In 2016, the Indian government mandated that every mobile phone include a panic button to report sexual harassment to law enforcement in New Delhi. Neha Kumar, Assistant Professor at Georgia Tech, examined the efficacy of this technology, researching how women perceived the panic button and whether it impacted their sense of safety.
