Term "telecom-grade" is often used to describe high-end systems that provide extreme reliability and availability. SORACOM has built a telecom-grade IoT platform on top of AWS, including a cloud-native cellular core network that enables various kinds of connected devices.

They have broken down the network components into microservices and implemented each as a fleet of EC2 instances backed by Amazon DynamoDB. With the scalability and agility provided by AWS, SORACOM has served more than 7,000 customers worldwide and has released 10 services in the two years since its launch. In this episode, we will walk through their architecture and design choices.
