This week, our cohosts Sonia and Colleen are discussing the power of AI in the animal kingdom and how technology can help identify and preserve animal populations. Colleen unpacks the ways heat- and motion-censored cameras are helping scientists track and preserve snow leopard populations with “animal selfies.” Sonia reveals how technology is helping research purple martins at Walt Disney World.

The unique birds migrate 6,000 miles from the Amazon forest to the Walt Disney World Resort, and Disney Emerging Technologies collaborated with Microsoft to build the first smart birdhouses for this species. Watch Microsoft Unboxed to learn more about the ways technology is helping save animals.
