"Up the River During Qingming" is a famous genre painting in East Asia. It is a portrayal of prosperity and affluence along a river in China, and it captures the daily life of people and the landscape of the city. The Qing court version was produced by five Qing court painters and presented to Emperor Qianlong in year 1736. It is 11.5 meters long, and features more than 4,000 people, a dozen bridges, boats, carriages, houses, gardens, and even the palace. “Up the River During Qingming” is the ideal “virtual” world the Great Emperor Qianlong envisioned, and now we can experience in VR.

清明上河圖是繪畫史上著名的風俗畫，為北宋畫院翰林張擇端首作。《清院本清明上河圈》手卷畫成於乾隆元年，長11.5公尺，以景物和人物繁多取勝。它凸顯了節令和地點，如人車輻輳的虹橋市集，熱鬧有趣的戲曲表演，櫛比鱗次的商店，樣式多彩的市招，顯赫幽靜的皇家苑囿等，為17，18世紀城市風貌的縮影。全作設色妍麗，用筆圓熟，界畫橋樑、屋宇、人物皆細膩嚴謹，中西畫技合璧，是「集大成」之作。
