Warning: This video is shaky. Our camera's eyepiece broke just before filming, and we were trying to adjust to using the camera without it. The R2 unit is no longer at Fonco Studios (it is back with Grant's mom), so we're unfortunately unable to reshoot the interview. Our apologies for the shaky video!

Grant Imahara's AMAZING R2D2 replica came about after 10 ILM employees -- including Adam Savage and Fon Davis -- banded together in 2000 to build their very own R2 droids from scratch. It was a gigantic undertaking, even for those working with the real R2! Fon and Adam take a tour of Grant's replica and recall the loooong journey that led up to the collaboration's completion.
