Intel E-Core-based platforms double the performance per rack by achieving huge performance and power efficiency gains for 5G Core functions versus previous generation severs. The demo compares the performance per Watt of Sierra Forest (e-core) versus previous 2nd Gen Xeon deployments, showing 2.4 times better performance per Watt at peak rates for the user plane (and similar for the control plane) This performance per Watt uplift translates to more than double the performance per rack (2.7X) with the same power budget (ex. 8kW rack) Sierra Forest has SKU options up to 288 cores per socket, making for an extremely dense compute and network solution – 1.9X more vCPUs per rack.
