Today’s video is about how to speed up your Windows 11 PC. These quick tricks can help out with older computers that aren’t up to speed, or new PCs that somehow are underperforming.

Update
First of all, make sure that Windows 11 is fully updated. Some people worry that updates break more than they fix, but Windows updates typically come with many performance, security, and bug fixes. They’re a good first step for troubleshooting PC issues.

Get Rid of Apps
Second: get rid of apps you don’t need. Head to Settings, App, Startup, then sort everything by startup impact. Go through and toggle off any apps you don’t need at startup. Then restart your PC, with a streamlined startup preventing unwanted software from running in the background and slowing down your PC. You may as well, while you’re trimming the fat, look at your installed apps and see if there are any extras in there that you don’t need. Banish bloatware!

OneDrive
On the topic of background apps slowing down your PC, let’s talk about OneDrive. Windows and OneDrive are closely interwoven. OneDrive syncing can potentially strain your system if you let it. Luckily, you can pause or resume syncing, or even turn it off altogether, in OneDrive settings.
Windows 11 has other settings that you can toggle to boost performance. Turn off visual effects like transparency and animations to save precious resources. In addition, toggle your PC to Performance mode by going to Settings, System, Power & Battery, then choosing Best Performance as your Power mode.

Browser Settings
If it’s your browser seeming sluggish, browser settings can help you optimize performance while browsing and beyond. Update your browser and delete unwanted extensions. Chrome specifically has the Memory Saver feature, that frees up memory from inactive tabs.

Upgrade Your SSD
Try upgrading from a SATA SSD or HDD to an NVMe SSD. Unlike the former, NVMe drives connect directly to your motherboard via the PCIe interface, allowing for data transfer speeds up to 14 times faster than SATA SSDs and over 20 times faster than HDDs. That means faster boot times, quicker file transfers, and an overall snappier system.

Finally, it may be a lack of storage that’s slowing you down. Back up files to another destination (such as an external SSD, the cloud, or even both), then free up room on the PC’s internal storage drive.
