Two iPhone 4S smartphones, one with iOS 9 Official and the other with iOS 9.1 Beta installed are compared in terms of speed and performance. Being the oldest Apple iPhone that can run iOS 9 and iOS 9.1, let’s see how this device performs with each OS.
The startup of the phones took a long time but ultimately it was the iPhone 4S with iOS 9.1 Beta that started up first. After making sure the 2 devices are connected on the same Wi-Fi, App store was opened in both. Similar to the previous test, a long duration was taken but again the iOS 9.1 Beta was shown to be quicker than the official iOS 9. But inside the App store, in some instances the iOS 9 seemed to perform faster. Opening the Phone app was quicker in iOS 9.1 Beta iphone 4S, whereas in browsing in Safari, iOS 9 iphone 4S was visibly better. The iOS 9.1 Beta also seemed to struggle when swiping down for app search. Siri performed similarly in both.
Smoother and faster performance of the multitasking screen was seen on the iOS 9.1 Beta while the iOS 9 lagged with a less smooth performance. Something that’s rather interesting is that in iOS 9 Official when a previously opened web page was selected from multitasking it required a reload and underwent some loading issues unlike in the iOS 9.1 Beta where a reload was not required.
After seeing this comparison it is quite evident that if you own an iPhone 4S, it’ll be worth to update the device to iOS 9.1 once available.
