The latest Mercedes SL Roadster has been developed by AMG and is as much a sporstcar as it is an open-top grand tourer. And unlike some previous SLs, that means it has more in common than ever with the original SL Roadster - the iconic 300SL of the 1950s. Shapur Kotwal takes the new SL 55 on a journey to meet its illustrious ancestor.
