The King of the Hammers has grown to be one of off-road racing’s most important events, with an incredibly difficult and taxing multidisciplinary course that most vehicles don’t even finish, let alone be in a position to win. But above and beyond the race itself is the real reason you should care about this race. People call it the “off-road Burning man.” Because King of the Hammers is very nearly the only race in the world where, once the track goes cold, the participants start their engines.

Note: While trails like Chocolate Thunder might be used as a section of the race course during the day, at night they are simply trails on public land and are not affiliated with King of the Hammers.
