Most new device launches go the same way: usually the press gets review units before they’re widely available, and we get to use them for a few days -or a week if we’re lucky- as we work on our review.
Then press day arrives. The embargo on media coverage lifts, and everyone posts their reviews and videos at the same time. It’s a huge frenzy, commenters go nuts, and it’s a giant explosion of frantic opinion-sharing activity.
For about … a day. And then it all goes away. Sure, there’s followup coverage as people find bugs and hidden features, but after that initial blast, not many people revisit the device to see how it feels a few months later, because everyone’s already focused on the next big deal coming down the pipe.
So let’s do something about that. Let’s see how we feel about devices when they’re not shiny and new anymore. This is After The Buzz.

In the ever changing world of flagship smartphones, the latest trend for 2015 was sadly to iPhonize them… which means that a Thin and light premium design is far more important than a feature-packed phone. Replaceable batteries took a back seat to a sealed chassis, and if you crave more storage, be ready to pay more for a unit that offers it.
LG is one of the few knights in shinning armor that actually defied the trend in a completely opposite direction. The lessons learned from the sealed and non-expandable Optimus G and G2 were somewhat solved with the G3, but we all know that that particular phone tried too hard to innovate and accomplished too little, up to the point where it left most of us already wanting to see the company’s successor.
I was one of those, and after watching Michael’s review of the LG G4 back in May, let’s just say I jumped on it as quick as I could. So far I’ve been rocking this AT&T unit since September, and some things have been great, others, not so much. Watch After The Buzz, Episode 49 on the LG G4 to learn more.
