Canonical released a developer preview of Ubuntu for Tablets and Ubuntu for Phones yesterday, and they also provided some fairly straightforward instructions for how to get the new OS on various Nexus devices. Unfortunately, unless you already have access to Ubuntu, Canonical's instructions don't help all that much. Taylor shows how you can install Ubuntu for Tablets on your Nexus 7 using TWRP.
