Flitsmeister is a company and mobile app that gives Dutch drivers near-real-time traffic information provided by other drivers and GPS data. The company’s original platform could not keep up with heavy spikes in data flow during peak driving periods, so the company turned to the AWS cloud and is now using Amazon S3, Amazon EC2, Auto Scaling, and Elastic Load Balancing to collect and deliver traffic data. Today the app’s 700,000 users benefit from data refreshes that happen twice as fast as before.
