We welcomed Astronaut Scott Parazynski for a Fishbowl to discuss his new memoir, The Sky Below: A True Story of Summits, Space, and Speed. Scott Parazynski is an elite athlete, physician, and explorer who always dreamed of becoming an astronaut. His dream was realized with a 17-year NASA career that included five missions to outer space and seven spacewalks. His memoir is an intimate account of space exploration from the inside, as well as a description of his death-defying quest to summit Mount Everest on Earth. He helps us understand what it’s like to train for—and deploy to—a home in zero gravity, and how an astronaut engages with the challenges of his life on Earth.
