State Governments can face an ongoing challenge of integrating the delivery of social services to its citizens while leveraging an array of isolated, program-specific technology solutions. The State of Maryland is tackling this challenge by leveraging Amazon's AWS technologies to integrate and transform service delivery. Maryland's Total Human-services Information Network, or MD THINK, is Maryland's groundbreaking technology platform that will bring service delivery into the 21st century. MD THINK is a cloud-based application platform, data repository, and analytics solution that will break down traditional silos and data barriers between state agencies, providing integrated access to programs administered by those agencies. MD THINK's use of a secure, agile, scalable, pay-as-you-go platform is expected to deliver significant cost savings, streamline program operations, and increase agency productivity through a more agile and responsive platform. Most importantly, an integrated view of citizens and enhanced data analytics will better enable state agencies to deliver the highest level of service, enabling citizens to be helped where they are and when they need it. This holistic service delivery model cuts through bureaucratic red tape and streamlines service delivery for the most vulnerable Marylanders, including children in foster care, disconnected youth, and families in need.
