AMD joined the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and Cray Inc. in announcing a new exascale-class supercomputer scheduled to be delivered to ORNL in 2021. To deliver what is expected to be more than 1.5 exaflops of processing performance, the Frontier system is designed to use custom AMD EPYC™ CPUs and purpose-built Radeon Instinct™ GPUs.
