It's a BIG DAY for all you AMD enthusiasts! The new AMD Ryzen 7000 series CPUs have just been released, and we're UNBOXING them! Let's start off by digging into what these processors have in common. They utilize the AMD Zen 4 architecture which shows a substantial improvement for energy efficiency as well as support for AVX-512. You will need an AM5 motherboard for each of these CPUs. These AM5 motherboards have an LGA1718 socket—this is a new design for AMD and its partners, and it comes with a lot of benefits! For gamers, you are probably the most excited about the frequency gains. These new processors feature a maximum boost frequency over 5 Gigahertz. In fact, AMD has tested 12-core and 16-core units running all-core workloads over 5.2 Gigahertz. I also have to touch on one-click DDR5 overclocking support for the 7000 series processor!
