This demonstration shows a commercial ready solution for deploying high-capacity compute nodes to create a network edge point of presence (PoP) for Service Providers, Systems Integrators, Security Service Vendors and Enterprises. The solution is based on readily available hardware and software that is validated for large, medium, and small deployments. The base silicon is the Intel 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable Processor, Intel Xeon-D Processor, Intel Atom Processors, and Intel Ethernet. The OEM partner (Supermicro) has created edge platforms that are modular and scalable leveraging the base silicon. The prime example is a 2U, 3 sled chassis that supports a single socket 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable Processor and has expansion ports to accept PCIe add in cards based on the Intel NetSec Accelerator Reference Design to provide offload and acceleration of Network Security Services. The Software partner that provides the base software stack to enable provisioning and management of Virtual Network Functions is Adtran. Together these partners are demonstrating an easy and scalable solution for setting up PoP’s that can be rapidly deployed in edge locations that require high performance and low latency for end user connectivity to cloud services.
