Hooman Bidgoli of Nokia examines the architecture of a fronthaul network in a Cloud RAN context and explores the requirements of the Top of the Rack (TOR) router and the value of Segment Routing (SR-MPLS / SRv6) technology in this application. Segment Routing technology allows a single true multi-service and multi-slice fronthaul network to be constructed, which can be used to transport latency-sensitive fronthaul traffic and other non-latency-critical applications, imposing special requirements on the TOR.
