Before WaFd Bank migrated to the cloud, their systems were hosted in their data center, and their teams were organized around managing data center infrastructure. Moving to the cloud required WaFd to level up their internal staff to migrate workloads with speed and scale. WaFd turned to AWS Managed Services (AMS) for support with every step of their cloud journey. AMS handled operational tasks, while WaFd's teams were able to focus on migrating additional workloads. Post migration, WaFd leveraged AMS to handle backups. AWS Enterprise Support collaborates with WaFd's internal teams to create a plan for managing infrastructure. With the help of AMS and AWS Enterprise Support, WaFd was able to migrate workloads within days or weeks instead of months of years. As a result, WaFd migrated 80% of their workloads within one year. Building on AWS provides WaFd with the elasticity and scale to expedite operational work and free up time to build new applications for their customers.
