Learn to set up the DJI Osmo Pocket 3: a very versatile, pocket-sized camera used by many creators for capturing high-quality video and audio on the go.

The first step is making sure it’s charged. A USB-C charger or a DJI Portable charger will do. A small light above the joystick on the front of the device will indicate it’s charging. A full charge should take around half an hour.

Activate
With the camera charged, it’s time to activate the camera. Download the DJI Mimo app on a mobile phone to activate the camera. Next, press the Shutter button or rotate the screen to turn it on. Your phone will need Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled to launch the app. Tap the camera icon on the app’s home page to connect the camera, following onscreen instructions.

External storage
The Osmo Pocket 3 has no internal storage. It needs a microSD card to store data. Cards with a minimum UHS-I Speed Class 3 rating are recommended for optimal transfer speed. The Kingston Canvas Go! Plus microSD Memory Card [shop.kingston.com/products/can... is perfect for this task, offering superior transfer speeds, durability, and Kingston’s traditional reliability. Seat your microSD card on the side of the device, and you’ll see on screen how much recording time remaining is available for your chosen resolution/frame rate.

Basic features
With set up complete, time to examine the functions of this tiny but mighty camera. The red circle button is used to start and stop recording, take pictures, or power the device on. The joystick can zoom or control the camera’s tilt by moving it directionally. Pressing the joystick enables active track. Pressing it twice recenters the gimbal. Three times flips it for selfie shots. The touch screen can flip the camera as well. It’s highly intuitive and fast once you know how to use it.

Gimbal modes
You can switch between multiple gimbal modes with the touchscreen. Follow is good for vlogs and selfies, Tilt lock for creative shooting or sports tracking, FVP offers free shooting, and you can alter following speed too: slow, default, and fast.

Advanced features
More advanced features the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 possesses are different timelapse modes: hyperlapse, timelapse, motionlapse, and ActiveTrack, for setting the camera on a tripod to actively track a specified subject. Other modes include Face Auto-Detect and Dynamic Framing. Solo filming is made much easier by these options. A popular feature of the Pocket 3 is rotating the screen to rotate the filming aspect ratio, switching between portrait and landscape on the fly. Simply rotate and hit Continue. If you don’t his Continue, you can rotate the screen vertically to power off the device.
