The new TT can be ordered in petrol or diesel forms - a 2.0-litre TFSI turbo petrol, available with either a six-speed manual or S Tronic dual-clutch gearbox, and in front-wheel drive or quattro all-wheel drive forms. There's also a 2.0 TDi diesel Ultra edition - emitting just 110g/km of CO2. There will also be a high-performance TTS added to the line up next year.

Styling-wise, this car is unquestionably a TT, with Audi developing an evolutionary approach to the exterior styling. It's more aggressive and racy than the outgoing model, but still recognisable as a TT.

The cabin in this car is simply sensational. It's got a slender design, thanks to Audi's Virtual Cockpit system - a large screen in place of the dials. Everything is here displaying speed revs and mapping for the sat nav, reducing the need for buttons and screens in the centre of the dash. The system can also be controlled via the MMI system or via the multifunction steering wheel. Everything is top quality.

In front wheel drive form, the TT feels very much like a hot hatch, with a sharp and engaging nature similar to that of the VW Golf GTI. The steering is accurate and light, and there's plenty of grip to make this car much more engaging than the outgoing version.

The TT is also very easy to live with day to day, and without the optional Magnetic Ride fitted, it is still a comfortable drive. In all, the new car does everything the previous TT did, just that little bit better.
