Taking a road trip? Follow these 10 tips and we guarantee it will be better than your last one.
The Smoking Tire team drives about 100,000 miles per year. If there's one thing we know how to do, it's travel by car. We decided to make a video telling everyone what we do to optimize our trips.
Thankfully, Volvo was nice enough to loan us their 2015.5 V60 Polestar edition.
Rule 1. Have a good car.
Rule 2. Bring your friends (or at least people who aren't annoying).
Rule 3. Make sure your car is up to the task (Check your oil, tires, washer fluid. Make sure you car won't crumple and die.)
Rule 4. Have the right gear (V1 Radar detector, enough phone chargers, music.)
Rule 5. Snacks, beverages, and water (Yes, in addition to drinks.)
Rule 6. Eat local food, not fast food. Use Yelp.
Rule 7. Emergency TP. Trust us.
Rule 8. Take back roads or rural highways.
Rule 9. Bring a camera, even if it's just your phone.
Rule 10. Pick a good destination. Don't put in all the effort to go somewhere boring, or sad.
