Motorola just sent out what it's calling a "press conference in a box", containing some press credentials and the brand new 2015 Moto E. To refresh your memory, the Moto E is an affordable, unlocked handset aimed at closing the technology gap. Interestingly, Motorola doesn't seem to be cutting many corners to get at its US$149 price tag - in fact, the new Moto E comes with a spec bump that we're sure you're going to love!
First up, Motorola included LTE this time around, whereas it had previously only included HSPA+. If you want to save some money we're hearing that there will be another version of the phone, sans LTE, for about twenty bucks less.
Next, Motorola went with a 64-bit Snapdragon 410 SoC, quad-core, and clocked at 1.2GHz, which is nothing to scoff at! Though we're still installing apps (even as this article is being written), our initial impression of Android 5.0.2 Lollipop running on the phone has been pretty snappy.
Another addition to the 2015 Moto E is a front-facing camera. Though some may consider this a luxury, virtually everyone else has got one, so why not the Moto E? It does now.
There are some trade-offs that Motorola had to make in order to get to the sub-$150 price point, but we'll cover those in more detail later on. In the meantime, let's unbox this beast on camera, and show you some of the more interesting points.
