Honeycomb, found on the Motorola Xoom, and soon other Android tablets, has its Pros and Cons. In this video we take a tour of the Honeycomb interface and try to understand the design philosophy behind it.
Here's what I like about Honeycomb:
1. Homescreen is highly customizable and serves as a great "dashboard" that makes the iPad's homescreen look archaic
2. The browser uses desktop-like browser tabs
3. The notification system is well-placed, non-obtrusive, and easy to use
Here what I don't like about Honeycomb:
1. It feels like an afterthought in the grand scheme of Android. There are a lot of interface inconsistencies (smartphone apps have the menu on the bottom, Honeycomb apps have the menu on the top)
2. There are only 37 apps (at time of this video) for Honeycomb, some of which aren't even optimized for the tablet display (Kindle as an example)
3. The browser is not stable
4. The email app exhibits weird behavior
