As computing hardware becomes more powerful, user interfaces will leverage this performance for rich media experiences and fluid game-style interactivity. Today, complex interfaces can be difficult for research teams to prototype. This session looks at future visual interfaces and toolkits from two directions. First, Microsoft Software Architect Greg Schechter will showcase MicrosoftΓÇÖs new Avalon platform for user interface definition and accelerated rendering, and heΓÇÖll provide demos of interfaces that leverage this technology. Then, Steven Drucker from Microsoft Research will showcase his current UI explorations for rich media consumption and photo access as well as other relevant projects from Microsoft ResearchΓÇÖs NextMedia research group.
