Preventing Data Exfiltration on Google Cloud (GCP) (Cloud Next '18)

Financial Services companies often face more stringent security requirements than fast-growing start-ups in other industries. For example, concerns such as data exfiltration by malicious insiders, as well as regulatory risks are often a higher priority than in many other industries. This talk surveys the approaches Two Sigma has used to mitigate risk in its extensive use of cloud computing. Some of these are based on the careful use of standard controls that GCP provides, while others have required intricate approaches, such as complex intercepting proxy policies, very specific firewall definitions, URL rewrites, and more. In part because of the needs of companies like Two Sigma, GCP cloud security capabilities are rapidly growing, and the talk illustrates the use of some of the newer security solutions that Google has been providing.
